One of my favorite childhood memories of Florida, is definitely the sea turtles. My grandparents lived right on Juno Beach, which just happened to be one of the most active nesting beaches in the world. And, from an early age, I got my turtle education not only from my dad, but also from our occasional run-in’s with Mrs. Fletcher, affectionately known as "The Turtle Lady". Passerbys often found her along the beach digging up a sea turtle nest and releasing the baby turtles. One summer when I was about 8 years old, my bother and I even got to help send a nest of baby turtles to the ocean. It is something I will never forget.
Now, when my husband and I go back to visit Juno Beach, my parents live in the condo where my grandparents once resided. And, although The Turtle Lady is no
longer with us, her legacy is at the Marinelife Center of Juno Beach. We can’t help but stop by here and see
some of these amazing creatures and get educated too…
